A view eastward from the peak of Halde Haniel, a coal spoil heap in the industrial landscape of Germany’s Ruhr region. The corner of a white amphitheater appears in the lower left-hand corner. Diminutively sized human figures traversing the pit.

Born in Kansas, I was raised in Indiana and Michigan before spending my formative years of middle school and high school in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. I went to university in Houston, TX and Cambridge, MA and in between, lived and worked in Cambodia, Uganda, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka.

My current abode is Berlin, Germany.
